Therapy for Teens and Children

Child Therapy & Teen Therapy

We can help!

Some parents find it difficult to start their child or adolescent in therapy because they think it may stigmatize them or it implies that they have failed in some way as a parent.

Children and teenagers don’t always ask for help when they need it. Just as you show love by taking them to a doctor when they are physically not feeling well, you can demonstrate the same love by finding a trained therapist specializing in children and teenagers to help with their psychological or emotional problems.

Seeing your child or teen in pain, having trouble communicating with them, or other parenting issues can stress a loving parent and put a strain on the household in general. The child years go through many stages and adolescent years are naturally turbulent, these stages can arouse anxiety, confusion, and pressure.

The adolescent years pose a struggle between autonomy and independence. A teen wants to be self-sufficient but does not yet possess all the skills necessary to achieve that.

We are familiar with the unique challenges that children and teens face and have experience working on high school campuses. Utilizing both Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Family Therapy services can help improve your child’s and teen’s behavior. These therapy modalities provide for solution-oriented behavior modification and improvement in how they function during this time of growth, learning, and development.

Our clinical focus is on helping children and teens with emotional outbursts, temper tantrums, difficulty sleeping, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, social skill deficits, gender identity, LGBQTIA+ questioning, body image, trauma, divorce, stress management, difficulties with relationships, addiction/recovery, behavior problems, and anger issues, among others. We believe in empowering you to help your child and empower your adolescents to learn and use effective tools to successfully navigate through the teen years into adulthood.

We often hear from parents: “My teenager is not acting right!” or “We just can’t get along!” By activating complementary approaches and techniques, together we unearth behaviors that may prohibit change. Utilizing strategies and techniques for solving problems, these behaviors will become more flexible as we find the right solutions for your child and family.

We work with teenagers on the various challenges that arise as they move closer to transitioning into adulthood, including creating healthy relationships, improving how they function at school, navigating early career development, improving social skills, and working through complicated family dynamics.

We are committed to helping you better understand your adolescent’s behavior and the ways in which you can foster his or her resiliency, self-esteem, academic success, and overall healthy emotional development.
