I believe that working through difficult times makes us, and our relationships, stronger. Sometimes, however, we need an extra hand. I know that making the decision to begin therapy is not always easy, but sometimes it is just what you need to get your life back on track.
Despite the impression that a therapist will tell you “what to do,” my role is to listen and help you hear your own answers. Therapy is a journey you take the lead in. It can offer you insight and perspective so you can achieve what you are striving for in your life. I love working with individuals who want to bring meaning into their lives. I will work with you to help you lead a more fulfilling life, take risks and gain self-confidence, become more successful in your career, and have more satisfying relationships. I create a space for you to feel listened to, not judged.
I am a licensed marriage and family therapist with almost 20 years of experience, including managing a program within a large non-profit agency where I mentored new therapists. During those years I learned there is nothing more powerful than feeling heard and understood.
In addition to working with adults, a large portion of my practice has been dedicated to infants, children, and teens. I have a specialization in working with children 0-4 years of age, which few therapists have training or experience in.
As a mom with children of my own, I understand the importance of the parent-child bond at any age. I see how miscommunication can occur, especially between teens and their parents, and can provide you with tools to bridge this gap.
With children, I use play therapy, talk therapy, and other ways to address common childhood issues like anger, depression, anxiety, OCD, social skills, poor grades, low self-esteem, tantrums, bullying, and difficulty expressing thoughts or feelings. More importantly, I work to create resiliency and meaningful change.
By utilizing a family systems approach, I can help you and your family to grow and handle life transitions. I provide Family Therapy to help you understand the unique personality and temperament of your child or teen and how you can better address problematic behaviors or help them cope with anxiety or depression.
Another area of my practice is working with couples. I have completed additional training including Level 2 Practicum Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and Gottman Leader training in the Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work.
Imagine how much better your life would be if you could communicate better and quickly resolve conflict. Together, we can explore what is getting in the way of you living a happier life.
